Lillian
Salza
Feb 12, 1920 — Feb 15, 2017
Born to Alberto and Leonarda DiBiccari in 1920 in East Boston, Lillian was the 7 th of 8 children. She attended East Boston public schools until she left in 8 th grade to help support the family. In 1949, she married Louis Salza and had three sons: Louis, Mark, and Adio. In 1956 the family moved to Lexington where Lillian lived until she was 89 when she moved to Don Orione Nursing Home.
Lillian loved to dance and to cook for large gatherings of family and friends in her home. People enjoyed both the good food and the warm hospitality. Many remember her for her excellent work cleaning their homes or babysitting for their children, for her consistently stylish way of dressing, and for her ready smile.
When one of her sons was diagnosed with dyslexia, she was successful in obtaining services that, at the time, were hard to find in public schools.
In her 60s and 70s, she cared for elderly people with extraordinary finesse. She provided the respect and companionship that elders need. Lillian was an active parishioner of St. Brigid's in Lexington.
She is survived by her 3 sons, daughters-in-law Lisa and Dell, granddaughters Lia Goldstein and Nina Burns, grandsons Tyson Englehardt, Mark and Cameron Salza, and great-grandchildren Aria, Elise, Reina, and Desmond.
