Obituary

It is with great sorrow and love that the family of Lucía Brower announces her passing on March 2, 2021 after a lengthy battle with cancer.

Lucía was born on September 2, 1975 in Caracas, Venezuela. She received a bachelor's degree in Production Engineering from Universidad Simon Bolivar in Venezuela, and an MBA from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology in Cambridge, MA. She had a long and distinguished career in retail and technology, co-founding a number of ventures. She also worked at global companies, always focusing on grocery retail. On July 4, 2000 she and José Vicente Aguerrevere got married. Together they raised two sons in Lexington, MA, Vicente (10) and Santiago (8).

Lucía loved ballet, piano, spending quality time with her family, traveling, meditating, and advocating for people's well-being and social justice with a bright personality and a beautiful smile. She was known and loved by many for her dedication, her profound kindness, her leadership, and her unwavering spirit. She mentored and inspired entrepreneurs and social leaders with charisma and thoughtful guidance. On a personal level, there was no challenge too great when it came to advocating for her loved ones. She was always there to provide her loving support for all her family and friends.

She is survived by her loving husband José Vicente Aguerrevere, their two children Vicente Aguerrevere and Santiago Aguerrevere, her parents Jonathan Brower and Esperanza Tugues-Brower, her sister Amelia Brower, brother-in-law Gilles Simler, niece Elena Simler and nephew Matteo Simler. She is also survived by her best friend Sabrina Grimaldi, who has always been by Lucia's side, since elementary school; and by Andrea Miles, who has been a member of the family for many years now. Due to Covid restrictions, the family will hold a private ceremony. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests a donation to the Jimmy Fund at Dana Farber where she received outstanding care.
