Malcolm R. Scott "Scotty" 84, Lexington MA, passed away on June 1, 2024 after a brief and
courageous battle with cancer. If you knew Scotty, you know how hard he fought!
Malcolm was born on Halloween, October 31st, 1939 to Roy and Naomi Scott in Somerville,
MA. Scotty was a longtime Lexingtonian and very proud of his town and country. He attended
Lexington High School and then graduated from Arlington High School Vocational School in
1959 before starting Minuteman Cleaning Company in 1960. Scotty was very dedicated for over
five decades to his many customers, employees and countless Lexington High School student
employees whom he mentored. He would often welcome employees into his home for holiday
meals when they had nowhere else to celebrate.
In 1966 Malcolm married the love of his life Mary (Teresa) King of Roslindale. They bought a
house in Lexington two doors away from his childhood home and began a family. They had
three children, Bob and his wife Tammy of Burlington, MA, Susan and her husband Tim
Marchand of Alexandria, NH, and Doug of Stow, MA.
Malcolm is survived by his sister Hope Weiss and her husband Bob of New Smyrna, FL with
whom he had a very close relationship.
"Poppa" leaves behind six bright and beautiful granddaughters: Kylie, Martina, Katie, Julianne,
Caroline, Anna. He was so proud of all of them and enjoyed spending time with them every
chance he could get. He was also a good uncle to nieces and nephews. They all respected and
adored him.
Scotty retired to Bristol NH where he made more friends and continued his lifelong passion of
fixing and making things. You could always find him with a paintbrush or tool in hand helping
out a neighbor or working on his own house and tending to the many flower beds that he
transplanted from Lexington.
To have known Malcolm was a full experience in family, friendship, loyalty, work ethic and drive.
Services will be held at Douglass Funeral Home Lexington, MA on Thursday June 6th 4-7pm,
service on Friday June 7th 10AM. In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations be made
in Malcolm's name to Lakes Region Hospice, 186 Waukegan St. Meredith, NH 03253.
