JACOBI, Margaret B. Also known as Margaret B. Fidanque, beloved wife of Benjamin Fidanque late of Freeport, NY, died on November 1, 2011 in Winchester, Massachusetts of complications from Parkinson's Disease. Margaret was born Margaret Bloom in New York, New York on September 29, 1922 the only child of Warren Joel Bloom and Ruth Shroder Bloom. On May 30, 1982, Margaret married Benjamin D. "Val" Fidanque in Freeport, New York. Mrs. Jacobi is survived by her daughter, Margaret Lynne Jacobi of Goffstown, NH; her son, Harold Jacobi and his wife Wendy Jacobi, of Sudbury, MA; and her step-son, David Fidanque and his wife, Ann of Eugene, Oregon. Margaret's youngest daughter, Susan Gail Jacobi, died of cancer on January 1, 1997. Mrs. Jacobi is also survived by her three granddaughters, Kerry G. Veitch and her husband, Gregory Veitch of Sudbury, MA; Crystal Laney and her husband, Patrick Laney, of Madison, AL; and Margaret Jacobi, formerly Margaret Gilmore of Boston, MA; and two step-grandsons, Brandon and Matthew Fidanque and seven great-grandchildren, Jacob Patrick Laney, Skyler E. Laney, Mason Laney, Maizy G. Veitch, Samuel Owen Veitch, Jeb G. Gilmore and Wendy A. Gilmore. Margaret moved from New York City to Concord, MA in 2006 and lived close to her surviving children and all seven great-grandchildren for two years. She loved them all and delighted in seeing them. At age 16, Margaret enrolled at Mount Holyoke College. At 18, she married Harold Jacobi, Jr. of Woodmere, New York. They moved to Buchanan, VA and owned a dairy farm and had their three children. In 1948 they moved to Scarsdale, NY. In 1965, Margaret and Harold divorced. Eight years later she met Benjamin "Val" Fidanque on a blind date and they had a whirlwind courtship. They were married from May 30, 1982 until Val's untimely death in August of 1995. Margaret and Val loved art, music and travel. In the 1980's and 90's Margaret achieved success as a competent real estate saleswoman at Stribling Associates on Madison Avenue, New York, even closing a sale in her early eighties after she moved to Concord, MA. Margaret maintained close friendships all her life with kindergarten friends from Fox Meadow in Scarsdale, NY, with her college roommate, Loni Hart of California, Loni's sister, Hilda Collins of Scarsdale, NY, Pat and Roger Blum of Greenwich, CT and recently deceased friends, Malcolm and Adele Seligman of Greenwich, CT and Rye, NY. She delighted in her family and, as one friend commented at hearing of her death, "Peggy was the life of the party. She made you feel welcomed and her home was the hub of activity for her friends and her kids and their friends for many years." A memorial service is to be held in the "Chapel" at Grace Chapel, 59 Worthen Rd, Lexington, MA 02421, 781-862-6499 on Tues, November 8, 2011 @ 3 PM.
