Obituary

Marie Terese Gannon

January 27, 1932 – January 27, 2025

Marie died peacefully on the day of her ninety-third birthday, surrounded by her loving husband, Robert, and four devoted children. Marie was born in Medford and raised in Revere by her parents, Mary DiCarlo & Salvatore Patti. She was the beloved wife of Robert (Bob) Gannon for over 71 years and is also survived by their son John and his wife Priscilla; daughter Maryellen Leelman and her husband Martin; son Stephen and his wife Joyce; and daughter Lauren Ruff and her husband, Richard. She was the cherished grandmother (Grammy) to Meaghan, John Joseph, Craig, Danielle, Robert, Michael, Charles, Julia, and Maria, and the glowing great-grandmother to Bruno, Jack, Helen, and Logan, who gave her great joy in her final years. Marie was the precious sister of Josephine Sorrento (pre-deceased) and Virginia Nerich, and "Auntie" to many dear nieces and nephews.

Marie retired from the Town of Saugus School Administration Office after 25 years of dedicated service. She then moved to a warm, wonderful home on a cranberry bog in North Falmouth, MA, for 27 years before relocating to North Andover, MA, to spend more time with her ever-growing family. While on the Cape, Marie was a devout member of the St. Elizabeth Seaton Church of North Falmouth and a member of the Garden Club. Marie was the quintessential hostess in her home and the community. She will be fondly remembered for her dignity, strength, wisdom, and abundant joy as she nourished her family's life, love, and faith.
