AVERY, Mark F., beloved husband of Karen Anne (Joerger) Avery of Nashua, NH; father of Mark F. Avery Jr. and his wife Kelsey Duggan of Littleton, MA, Leanne Avery of Winthrop, MA; loving son of Mary Elvira (Cottreau) Avery and the late John F. Avery of Lexington, MA; cherished brother of Jack Avery and his wife Terri, Richard Avery and his wife Linda and Thomas Avery and his wife Tricia.  Mark is survived by his three beloved grandchildren, Desmond, Broughton and Callahan and by many nieces and nephews.

Mark passed away peacefully on April 3rd, 2026 in South Palm Beach, after a courageous battle with pancreatic cancer, surrounded by his loving family and the warm Florida sunshine.  He was born in Somerville, MA on December 13th, 1957 the second youngest of four brothers.  Mark and his high school sweetheart, Karen Anne (Joerger) Avery were married on September 11th, 1982 at Sacred Heart Church and celebrated their 43rd wedding anniversary this past year.  He graduated from Northeastern University with a master's degree in Criminal Justice.  A dedicated and hard worker, Mark spent the majority of his career in security management at institutions such as Lawrence General Hospital, Harvard Medical School, and most notably as the Director of Security at Dana-Farber Cancer Institute.  His altruistic intuition transcended into his personal life, volunteering for numerous non-profits, serving as President of the Nashua Lion's Club and was a parishioner at Immaculate Conception Church in Nashua, NH.

Mark had a way of making people laugh when they least expected it, lending a hand without being asked and giving without ever expecting recognition.  He simply showed up and made things better than they were.  He appreciated the good things in life: a round of golf at Sky Meadow, traveling, sunsets over the intracoastal, a mai tai from The Jade, a challenging DIY project and any excuse to gather people - especially if it meant grilling for them.  No one ever left his home with an empty stomach or feeling anything but welcomed.

More than anything, Mark loved being "Yeh Yeh".  His 3 grandchildren were his greatest joy and he showed up for them like he did everything else - fully present (and most likely with snacks!).

Later in life, Mark and those closest to him adopted a simple phrase "Let the good times roll."  And he did - not loudly, not for show, but in a way that made everyone around him feel a little more at ease, a little more cared for, and a little more grateful to be there.

He leaves behind countless family and friends who will miss him deeply, a home full of things he either built or fixed and a lifetime of stories which will continue to be shared and age like fine wine.

Relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend services in his honor.  Visiting hours Thursday, April 9th, 3:00pm-7:00pm at Douglass Funeral Home, 51 Worthen Rd. LEXINGTON.  Funeral from Douglass will take place on April 10th, 9:00am, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at Sacred Heart Church, Lexington, MA at 10:00am.
