Shurtleff, Martha (Barez) of Lexington, died on January 18, 2022 at the age of 91. Wife of the late Donald A. Shurtleff. Mother of David Shurtleff and his wife Shoshana of Bethesda, MD, and Mark Shurtleff of Atlanta, GA. Sister of Reva Schwartz of New Haven, CT. She is also survived by her beloved grandson, Samuel, and by many nieces and nephews.  Martha had love for and enjoyed reading history books and learning in general.  She was fiercely independent. Martha was docent at the historic Hancock–Clarke House and Buckman Tavern in Lexington, for many years.  She always enjoyed entertaining friends and family at her home she lived in for over 54 years. She most recently enjoyed exchanging knock knock jokes with her grandson, Samuel.

A Graveside Service will be held Thursday January 20 ^th at Westview Cemetery, 520 Bedford St. Lexington at 1:00pm. Relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend. Donations in her memory may be made to the American Heart Association.
