ZANI, Martha A. (Gay) Age 85, died Nov. 13, 2011 in Wayland, MA. Born in Sandwich, MA on May 17, 1926 she was the daughter of Pio and Rosina (Pacassoni) Gay. In 1947 she graduated from Mass. Memorial Hospital as a Registered Nurse and a member of the Cadet Nurses Corp. Martha enjoyed her nursing career, and being a mother and housewife. She also did volunteer work and belonged to Friends of Middlesex County Hospital as well as St. Brigid' Sodality. She was the wife of the late Richard J. Zani for 53 years. Upon retiring they spent winters in Florida and traveled to Barbados and the Bahamas every year. In addition to her parents and husband she was predeceased by a daughter-in-law Elaine Duffey Zani. Beloved mother of Richard M. Zani of Maynard, MA, Robert B. Zani and his wife Mary Ann of Capitan, NM, and Janice M. Zani and her husband William A. Batte Jr. of Brookline, NH. Devoted grandmother of Michael Zani and William "BZ" Batte III. Loving sister of Cora Gay Dell of New Seabury, MA. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated Weds., Nov. 16 at St. Brigid Church, 2001 Mass. Ave., Lexington at 12pm, followed by interment at Westview Cemetery, Lexington. Relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend. Visitation Weds. prior to Mass at the Douglass Funeral Home, 51 Worthen Rd, LEXINGTON, from 10 am to 11:45 am.
