Brunn-Alessio, Mary- passed peacefully January 20, 2018 after a year long battle with cancer. Mother of Nicole Alessio Hoiriis of Hamilton, MA, and Jessica Alessio of Miami, FL. Mary is survived by her daughters and 2 adored grandchildren, Jackson and Ryann.

Mary was born in Maine but grew up in Lexington Massachusetts. She was the daughter of Edward and Evelyn Brunn. Mary attended Tufts University for Occupational Therapy and proceeded to receive advanced degrees at various institutions within her field throughout her life. Mary worked within the Lexington School System for over 20 years providing early intervention services to children in need. She was deeply committed to helping children reach their full potential.

Mary was passionate and creative. She was both an artist and dancer. As an artist, she worked with multiple mediums such as painting, pottery, mosaic, and silk screening. Mary was a member of the Arts and Crafts Guild of Lexington displaying her work within shows and exhibitions throughout the community. As a dancer, Mary attended dance classes at Janet Neil Dance Studio in Boston, participating in repertory performances regularly.

She will always be remembered as a loving mother, grandmother, and kind friend. She constantly promoted self development for herself and others through education, travel, expressive arts, and literature. This was the greatest gift she gave to her children- presenting countless opportunities for enrichment and life-long learning. She was a determined, hardworking, and incredibly energetic woman. Her spirit will be deeply missed. She leaves us rich in memories.

Calling hours will be held Friday January 26 at the Douglass Funeral Home, 51 Worthen Rd. Lexington from 5pm to 7pm , and a Memorial Service will be celebrated Saturday January 27 at Hancock Church, 1912 Mass. Ave. Lexington at 9:30 am . Interment will follow the service at Mt. Pleasant Cemetery, Arlington. Relatives and friends are kindly invited.
