Mary Stella Daigle (née Sciortino) was a warm and loving wife, sister, mother, and grandmother, and a friend to a great many people.

Mary was raised in East Boston in a household with eight children and loving parents. On July 1, 1951, she married the late Norman "Chic" Daigle. Together, they moved to Lexington, where they had two daughters. Mary worked at the Globe Knitting Mill in Boston in her younger years. Later, she worked for the school lunch program in Lexington, Massachusetts and American Optical in Waltham, Massachusetts.  They owned a machinery business, Pell Engineering, Inc., where Mary became the bookkeeper in 1980 until the business was sold in 1988.

The Daigles moved to Carlisle in 1983. They lived on Westford Street in a house they called Eagle Spring Farm, where both Mary and Chic rode horses avidly for many years. They also traveled widely, with memorable trips to America's West, Alaska, Egypt and Israel as well as several parts of Europe.

Mary adored living in Carlisle. She loved looking out her window to see the woods and its creatures, especially cardinals and other birds. She took a job in the tax collector's office in 1988 and worked until she retired at age 80, but she continued to be an active member of the town community. She volunteered with the Council on Aging and at the elementary school, where she loved reading with the children. Mary found this work to be the highlight of her later years. She also made many friends through her civic involvements, which brought her great joy and fulfillment. She was a warm and loving Italian grandmother to all she met, developing the catch phrase, "con tuttu mio cuori" to say, "with all my heart!"

Above all, Mary loved and valued her family. She was married to Chic for 65 years when he passed away in November 2016. She was a devoted mother to her two daughters: Debra Daigle of Carlisle, Massachusetts, and Denise Daigle, of Cottonwood, Arizona. Mary was also an adoring and affectionate grandmother to her three grandchildren: Doug, Jamie, and Lisa Burgess. She remained close to her siblings throughout her life. She is survived by her sister Elena Arsenis of Saugus and her brother, Sonny Sciortino of Revere as well as her daughters, grandchildren, and many relations and friends.

Mary died peacefully at home on Tuesday, April 11 at 91 years old. She will be dearly missed and remain a warm presence in the hearts of all who loved her.

A memorial will be held at Douglass Funeral Home in Lexington, Massachusetts. Calling hours are Tuesday, June 6 from 4:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. and a celebration of life service Wednesday morning at 10:00 a.m.
