Obituary

Hadley, Mary F. (McDevitt) November 13th, 2014. Mary was the beloved wife of the late Elinus B. "Mike" Hadley for 68 years. She was born in Arlington and brought up in Lexington. She graduated from Lexington High School and from Regis College, class of 1940. Before her marriage, she worked for the Massachusetts Department of Insurance. In later years, she worked for Sears Roebuck, the Lexington School Department, and H&R Block. She moved to Osterville in 1982. She was a member of the Barnstable Newcomers Club and was active in their bowling, bridges and book discussion groups. She enjoyed playing tennis well into her 80's. She is survived by her daughter, Patricia M. Connelly and her husband, Paul, of Quincy, and her sons, Alan J. and his wife, Nancy, of Lexington, William P. and his wife, Diane, of Billerica, David E. and his wife, Mary, of Arlington, and Gerard F. and his wife, Linda, of Billerica. She also had eleven grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren. She was the sister of the late James McDevitt of Lexington, and the mother of the late James M. Hadley. Mary was a communicant of Our Lady of the Assumption Church in Osterville. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Mary's name to Beacon Hospice, 68 Center Street Suite 19, Hyannis, MA 02601. Funeral from the Douglass Funeral Home 51 Worthen Road, Lexington on Tuesday November 18th at 9 A.M followed by a mass of Christian Burial at Sacred Heart Church, Follen Road Lexington at 10 A.M. Relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend visiting hours on Monday from 4-8 P.M. Interment Westview Cemetery Lexington.
