Obituary

King, Mary, SGM, 89, of Lexington, MA, died on Friday, October 16, 2009 in the company of her fellow Sisters. She had been a Grey Nun for 51 Years. Sr. King was born in Concord, MA, and made her commitment to God as a Grey Nun in Lexington, MA in 1958. Sr. King worked in various administrative and bookkeeping positions throughout the years: at the main offices at Holy Ghost Hospital, Cambridge, MA (now Youville Hospital); St Joseph Hospital, Nashua, NH; at Covenant Health Systems, Lexington, MA; and for over 20 years in the business Office at the Grey Nuns Provincial House, Lexington, MA. Sr. King served as a missionary at two schools in West Africa for five years. Sr. King was appointed as a Local Superior at the Provincial House, Lexington, MA (now Youville Place) and served in this leadership position with wisdom, confidence, kindness and fairness. Sr. King was always willing and available when called to service to assist others in need, even after her official retirement in 1997. Sr. King leaves behind her sister Mrs. Ruth Glynn and her brother Walter King both of Weston, MA, her sister Mrs. Paul (Mildred) Coyle of Eldridge, Iowa; her sister Sr. Bernice King, SND of Waltham, MA and nieces and nephews. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated for Sr. King on Tuesday, October 20, 2009 at 12:15pm. in the Youville Place Chapel, 10 Pelham Rd. Lexington, MA. Visitation Tuesday prior to Mass 9:30 - 10:45 AM. Interment Holy Cross Cemetery, Malden.
