Obituary

Mary Sinnamon Michelman age 50 beloved wife (Tom), mother (Julie & Valerie), daughter (the late William & Margaret), sister (James, Eric, Joseph, Edwin, Thomas and George), aunt (22), and great aunt (2), died Friday December 17, 2010, after an all too quick battle with the reoccurrence of breast cancer. Born and raised in Manchester CT, she graduated from Manchester HS, earned a B.S. in Biology from Bates College, and a M.S. in Biological Oceanography from the University of Rhode Island. Her professional work included jobs with the Dana Farber Cancer Institute, the Organization for the Assabet River, and the Office of State Senator Pam Resor. She was a dedicated local volunteer including Girl Scout leader, reader to the blind, Open Door Theater, member of the East Acton Village Planning Committee and the NARA Park Design Committee, leader and organizer of Acton Stream Teams (www.actonstreams.org) and Acton medicine take back day, member and President of Acton Citizens for Environmental Safety (ACES – www.actonaces.org). She was a wonderful, thoughtful, gracious, kind, sincere friend and relative, and an extraordinarily effective and persistent community activist. Respected and loved by all she encountered. A formal memorial service will be held on Dec-29th at 1:30 pm at Acton Town Hall. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to:
