NESLINE, Mary Dorothea Hellstrom 89, of Lexington MA and recently of Carlton Willard Village in Bedford MA, October 15, 2014. Beloved wife, mother, grandmom, sister, and dear friend. Mary was married for over 50 years to the late Dr. F. William (Bill) Nesline, Jr. Mary is survived by her children, Mark Nesline of Lexington (and his wife Susan), Karl Nesline of Wilmington (and wife Rosemary) and the late Diane Nesline of Waltham as well as her four grandchildren, Kevin, Dennis, Eva, and Eric Nesline. Mary is also survived by her sister, Kay (Hellstrom) Shields of Sunnyvale, CA and her family. Mary was born in Jamestown, NY on December 19, 1924. Her parents were both born in Sweden. Mary maintained strong family ties to her homeland, and passed down appreciation of her heritage and traditions to her family. She lived the early years of her life in Providence, RI, and graduated from Pembroke College. At Pembroke she was a "City Girl" and President of the Glee Club. She then moved to Boston and worked at Peter Bent Brigham Hospital performing research which helped lead to the development of the polio vaccine. In Boston she met the love of her life, Bill Nesline, whom she married. She then moved to Lexington with her family, where she was active in the Lexington Garden Club, Lexington Historical society, and volunteered for FISH, amongst other things. Once she and Bill retired, she happily traveled the world, tended to their home and beautiful garden, and cherished spending time with her grandchildren. A wake will be held on Saturday October 18 from 9 to 11 am at the Douglass Funeral Home, 51 Worthen Rd., LEXINGTON, MA. A funeral will be held following at 11am. Donations in her memory may be made to hospice care at Care Dimensions, 75 Sylvan St Suite B-102, Danvers MA 01923. Interment Westview Cemetery, Lexington.
