Labonte, Sister Merilda, SGM of Lexington, died on Oct. 18, 2015 at Mary Immaculate Nursing/Restorative Center, Lawrence, MA. She was born in Holyoke, MA to Andre and Merilda (Velandry) Labonte. She is survived by her niece Frances Thurston of Mt. Holly, NJ, cousins Sharon Mozzi of Schenectady, NY and Jill Zucco of Franklin, MA and other relatives and friends. After her vows in 1935, she was a child care worker in the different orphanages of the Grey Nuns for 13 years and served as sacristan in Cambridge and Lexington, MA for 9 years. She was store/supplies manager at the Provincial House, Lexington, MA for 22 years. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated Monday, Oct. 26 at Youville Place Chapel, 10 Pelham Rd, Lexington at 12:15pm. Relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend. Visitation Monday prior to service from 9:30am to 11am. Interment Holy Cross Cemetery, Malden.
