Hughes, Michael James of Bedford, July 2, 2016.

After a long battle with serious illness, beloved husband and adored father passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on July 2, 2016. Michael was the son of Ellen and Robert Hughes. He grew up in Billerica amid many much younger siblings in a loving, high energy home. He met his bride, Diane Cadogan, in 1991, and they were wed in 1994. They built a family and a wonderful life together in Bedford with their children Max and Sam Hughes. Michael loved his home and the community of Bedford. He was an involved father and a devoted youth sports coach for many years. He was a founding member of Bedford Youth Lacrosse and served BYL for over 15 consecutive years. He graduated from the University of Lowell, and then went on to receive a Masters degree from Bentley University. He was employed by Nuance in Burlington. His greatest joy was his love of his wife and family. He was a devoted family man. He enjoyed visiting Maine, Vermont and many places among the US as well as several visits to Italy, but always preferred his home in Bedford, surrounded by his sons, friends, and his wife. His family takes pleasure in knowing he is in Heaven watching over them, likely enjoying sports, breathing freely again, and without pain. He will be missed. A funeral mass will be celebrated Thursday July 7 10:00 am, at St. Michael Church 90 Concord Rd in Bedford. Visiting hours will be held Wednesday July 6, 2016 at the Douglass Funeral Home , 51 Worthen Rd, Lexington from 4:00pm to 8:00 pm.
