Obituary

Michael J Volpicelli Sr. age 62, of Naples, Maine, passed suddenly on January 20, 2022 at Mass General Hospital. He was a native of Lexington, Massachusetts, the son of Rita Frances (Donovan) and Richard J. Volpicelli. His memorial Mass will be held at St. Brigid Catholic Church in Lexington, MA at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, January 26. The family will receive visitors at Douglass Funeral Home in Lexington, MA on Tuesday, January 25, from 4:00- 7:00 p.m.

Born on August 23, 1959 he was raised in Lexington Ma and graduated from Lexington high school. Michael married his wife Christina in 1984 and they moved to Pelham NH a couple of years later to raise their new family. Michael was a 37 year member of Pipefitters Local 537. Always keeping himself busy he was a resourceful man who could fix almost anything. An avid outdoorsman, he enjoyed spending his free time on the water trout and salmon fishing, passing his knowledge on to his children and grandchildren. Michael loved having friends and family to visit at their house on Sebago Lake in Maine.

Life was not always easy for Michael living with Type 1 Diabetes but his participation in Mass General Hospital EDIC/DCCT Diabetic study for over 30 years has hopefully made managing the disease for many others much easier. He was an exemplary father who always made time for his children. Whether early morning hockey practice, volleyball and softball games after school or just going out for a walk in the woods teaching us about the natural world around us.

Michael is survived by his beloved wife of 37 years Christina as well as his son Michael and wife Miranda with their two children Massimo & Michela. Also daughter Victoria and husband Stephen with their five children Seán Óg, Annie Mae, Saoirse, Eireann, and Croía. Michael also leaves behind his siblings brother: Richard (Linda) Volpicelli of Bedford Ma; sisters: Eileen Rosencrants of Atlanta, Ga, Kathleen Breen of Naples, Fl and Joanne (Joel) Zimmerman of Lincoln, Ma as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Michael joins his parents Richard and Rita in eternal rest as well as brother-in-law Tom Rosencrants.
