MIRIAM EUGENIA CROWLEY McCUE was born on 4 November 1917 in Denver, Colorado, to Frank and Miriam (Keliher) Crowley. She moved to Lexington in 1952 with her husband J.J. Gerald McCue, and died on 27 February of this year.

A 1940 graduate of the University of Wyoming, she was a member of the national women's social fraternity Kappa Kappa Gamma, and of the national music fraternity Sigma Alpha Iota. She received a Master's degree in psychology from Fordham University in 1940 and the Ph.D. degree, also from Fordham, in 1944. She then taught at Rosemont College, in Rosemont PA, before joining the United States Navy's Women Activated for Volunteer Emergency Service, the WAVES. As an Ensign, she worked in various naval hospitals' psychiatric sections; upon the cessation of hostilities she was discharged with the rank of Lieutenant, Junior Grade. From 1946 to 1950, she taught in the psychology department of Smith College, in Northhampton, MA. There, she met her future husband, Gerald McCue, an Associate Professor in the physics department.

Upon marrying and leaving Smith College, Dr. McCue worked as a clinical psychologist for the Veterans Administration, serving at the Cushing VA Hospital in Framingham, the VA Mental Health Clinic in Lowell, and at the VA Medical Center in Bedford, from which she retired in 1984.

A long-time member of the Lexington Golf Club, she won the Ladies' Handicap Championship three times. She was a member of St. Brigid's Parish in Lexington, where she taught children in the Confraternity of Christian Doctrine classes. Her other volunteer activities included Lexington's Cary Library and the Historical Society, as well as being a violinist in the Concord Orchestra and a member of the Boston Intercollegiate Alumnae Association of Kappa Kappa Gamma.

She is survived by her son Brian and his wife Molly (Anderson) McCue, who reside in Norfolk, Virginia, and their daughter Miriam, who lives in the District of Columbia. Her sister, Ellen (Crowley) Suyematsu predeceased her in 1992, and her husband Gerald died in 2011.

Calling hours will be from 5-8 pm on the 22 ^nd of March, at the Douglass Funeral Home, and a funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Brigid's Church at 10 am, March 23 ^rd .
