Little-Porter
d. Apr 20, 2023
Little-Porter, Myra E. of Lexington, Massachusetts died on Thursday morning, April 20, concluding a seven-year struggle with cancer. Myra's parents were Warren T. Little and Irene Overholt Little, longtime residents of Wickliffe, Ohio. She earned a BFA from Capital University in Columbus, then an MFA in musical performance and teacher certification from the University of Cincinnati. Myra played French horn professionally and taught music for Worcester Public Schools for 10 years. While playing in local orchestras, she met engineer and clarinetist, John Porter. Married in 1981, the couple embarked on a four-decade journey of adventure and discovery, traveling to 77 countries. At 35, with guidance from John, she changed to a successful career in computer programming and IT project management, later retiring from IBM. As they traveled, Myra's passion for photography blossomed and resulted in publication by Smithsonian Journeys as well as calendars and a book of her photographs and poetry. Myra is survived by her husband John Porter, brother John Little and an extended family of several generations. Celebration of Life service Friday, April 28, 10:30 AM at Douglass Funeral Home, Lexington, with visiting time at 10:00 and after service.
