Flynn, Nancy (Lea) of Arlington, Nov. 1, 2023.
Born in New York, in 1929, growing up on Long Island. Nancy met the love of her life, Wallace Flynn, and they married three months later, enjoying 48 years together. Wallace predeceased her in 2001. Nancy loved living on the shore of Spy Pond in Arlington MA for 60 years. Winters were spent skating on the pond with her children and summers spent swimming and boating there. Nancy was a strong advocate for keeping the pond clean and safe for Arlington residents to enjoy. Nancy taught art for many years in her Spy Pond Studio, having been trained in Paris France. In 1982, Nancy assumed the role of Director of the Cutter Gallery in Arlington. Under her watchful eye, the Gallery increased its reputation as a place that promotes and supports local arts to the Arlington community. She was an accomplished golfer and tennis player, and was the driving force behind the Winchester Country Club junior tennis program starting. She also was responsible for the Girl Scouts having a tennis badge the scouts could earn. Nancy leaves behind her son Wallace Flynn and wife Pamela of New Providence, NJ, her son Peter Flynn and wife Cheryl of St Augustine, FL, her daughter Kathryn Mazzone of Mansfield, MA, her grandchildren, James Flynn and wife Lisa Merolla, Dori Flynn and husband Kenny Condon, Kerri Flynn, Michelle Flynn Resetar and husband Mike, Sara Almeida and husband Brian, Keith Mazzone and wife Autumn and Kurtis Mazzone. Nancy also leaves behind her beloved great grandchildren, Robin, Josephine, Emily, Colton, Madison and Abigail, and her sister Frances Pratt of Cambridge, MA.
A Memorial Mass will be held Thursday November 16 at St. Eulalia Church, 50 Ridge St. Winchester at 10am. Relatives and friends are kindly invited.
In lieu of flowers please consider making a contribution to the Arlington Boys and Girls Club in Arlington, Attention Derek Curran, 60 Pond Lane, Arlington, MA 02474, which Nancy and husband Wally considered such an important asset to the Town of Arlington residents.
