Obituary

Parr, Paul E. of Lexington, May 8, 2024. Beloved husband of Jean L. Parr (Borsini). Loving father of Deborah Parr of Lexington, Denise Parr of Lexington, and Diane Laurenzi and her husband Laurence of Lexington. Devoted brother of Michael Parr of Arizona, and the late William Parr. He is also survived by 4 grandchildren, Erica, James, Daniel, and Gianna, and by many nieces and nephews.

His favorite pastimes included woodworking, watching all Boston sports, dedicating his free time to his family and always being their biggest fan on and off the field.

A graduate of the United States Merchant Marine Academy and commissioned into the Naval Reserves, Paul had 41 years of government service with the Department of the Navy. During that time he received the Secretary of the Navy Award for cost reduction from the Secretary of the Navy, John Warner. He was the Chief Design Engineer for the restoration and modernization of the four battleships - the Iowa, New Jersey, Missouri, and Wisconsin. He was the Retired Director of the Boston Planning Group, Division of the Naval Sea Systems Command.

Visiting hours will be held Sunday May 12 at the Douglass Funeral Home, 51 Worthen Rd. Lexington from 2pm to 5pm. Relatives and friends are kindly invited. Donations in his memory may be made to the American Cancer Society. Private interment Westview Cemetery, Lexington.
