Richardson, Phyllis E , 93 of Lexington November 5, 2018. Beloved wife of the late Albert S Richardson Jr. Father of John Richardson, Bedford, Elaine Richardson of Lexington and W Yarmouth, Mark Richardson and his wife Marie of Stamford CT, and Paul Richardson and his wife Charlotte of Winchester. Daughter of the late John J and Helen E Brosnahan of Somerville. Sister of the late Robert L Brosnahan and his wife Rita of Lexington. Phyllis is also survived by 3 grandchildren, Connor, Sydney, and Emily, and by many nieces, nephews, dear friends and former students. She died unexpectedly, suddenly and peacefully, at home within days of celebrating her 93 ^rd birthday and her beloved Red Sox World Championship. Baptized at St Catherine's in Somerville, Phyllis attended Regis College of Weston where she earned a Bachelor of Arts in Mathematics. She started her career teaching night school at Somerville High then accepted a position as service rep with New England Telephone until she married "the boy, who was instantly smitten with this pretty blonde he spied from across the MIT Catholic Club dance floor on the night before her 21 ^st birthday." Phyllis spent the 2 ^nd twenty years of her life raising her family with AL in Lexington, MA where they joined a vibrant St Brigid catholic community, socialized and golfed at the Lexington Golf Club, were ever present at every Little League baseball, hockey game, High School soccer, Hayden ice skating event and Jr golf tournaments of their 4 kids. In the Robinson Hill neighborhood where they lived happily for 62 years, Mrs. Richardson was a mom to most of the neighborhood kids and their family dogs, going so far as to corral 8 dogs into her home on the first day of the new lease law, as the dog officer drove up the hill. Phyllis often remarked how the next twenty years of her life would be among her happiest – teaching math at Muzzey Jr High and LHS – while always being available to tutor any student who wanted a little extra help or to engage in an on-the-spot PTA conversation in the aisle of the Stop & Shop. Many of the teacher friendships forged in the 70s remain to this day. As Phyllis became the financial support for her husband as he pursued his entrepreneurial, engineering passions of elevating his part-time Research Consulting Associates practice into AR Products, a technology company, she likewise followed her dreams: earning a Master's in teaching at Salem State College by night, inspiring her students with a love of learning by day and guiding her teenaged children to discover their individual visions for a balanced and happy life. The last 30+ years of their lives, Phyllis and AL travelled across America, Europe, and the Caribbean and to Russia; finally settling for summers on Cape Cod and winters in Naples FL, where they treasured time with and learning from their 3 grandchildren. She was ever present among the Regis College community serving as Class President, Fund Agent and Class Reporter; receiving the Regis College Loyalty Award in 1998. Visiting hours are 4-7 pm on Thursday, November 8 at the Douglass Funeral Home, 51 Worthen Rd., LEXINGTON.
