Qi
Wang
d. Oct 10, 2023
Qi (Ally) Wang , 48, of Lexington, passed away peacefully on Oct. 10th, 2023 after a long and courageous fight against a challenging disease. Ally was the loving wife of Prof. Xu Wu and the caring mother of Matthew Wu (15) and Mason Wu (11). She was born and grew up in Changchun, China, and studied at Jilin University with B.A. and M.A. in language and literature. She moved to the U.S. to pursue graduate education, and earned an M.B.A degree in analytics and finance, from the School of Business at the Univ. of California, Riverside. Ally worked as a business data analyst and marketing manager in several industry-leading tech companies before she was disabled by the disease. Ally enjoyed traveling with her family to explore the culture and food in different parts of the world, reading novels, and walking her goldendoodle puppy (Mars) around the neighborhood. She faced and fought the challenges and difficulties with incredible grit, resilience, and optimism. She joked about and smiled away her discomfort, enjoying chocolate ice cream even in her final days. Ally was a passionate volunteer to Lexington schools and the Chinese American community at Lexington. She served as president of PTO/PTA at Harrington Elementary School and Clarke Middle School, helping families and students to settle down and navigate in the schools, despite facing difficulties from her illness.
A celebration of Ally's colorful and inspiring life will be held on Monday, Oct. 16th in the Bigelow Chapel, Mount Auburn Cemetery (580 Mount Auburn Street, Cambridge, Massachusetts 02138). Visitation will be from 9:30 to 11:00am, followed by a memorial service (11:00-11:30am). Burial will be at Clethra Path, Mount Auburn Cemetery.
