Ralph Lincoln Lingley

(February 12, 1929 - April 26, 2018)

Ralph Lingley (Age 89) passed away at his home in Lexington surrounded by his loving wife and children.

A devoted husband to his wife of 67 years, Eleanor (MacLean) Lingley. Proud father to his children, Michael Lingley and his wife Jesse Aikman of Rollinsford, NH, Gayle Witzel of Shrewsbury, John Lingley & his wife Susan of Sudbury, Susan Neff & her husband Eric of Westminster, the late Timothy Lingley, Mark Lingley, and his late daughter-in-law Kathleen Kelley Lingley.

Loving "Rootney" to grandchildren Joseph, Jennifer, Paul, Timothy, Caryn, Shawn, Lucas, Maggie, Chaim and the late Edward Lingley and Jacob Neff. Great grandfather to Aviana, Jack, Emily, Andrew, Rowan and Willow. An amazing Uncle to many nieces and nephews and a loyal friend to all who knew him.

Son of the late Charles and Blanche Lingley. He was predeceased by his brothers and sisters, Irma Campbell, Evelyn Pendergast, Charles Lingley, Phyllis Dixon, Audrey Corcoran, Thelma Metrano and Kenneth Lingley.

Originally from Watertown, but a long time resident of Lexington, Ralph knew people wherever he went. If he didn't know you, he got to know you and treated you just the same as a lifelong friend.

He retired from the Coca Cola Company in 1991 after a long career of doing what he loved. Later he went on to work for the Cannizzo Brothers in Lexington and continued to faithfully meet up with "the boys" for coffee and breakfast, even after "full retirement".

Anyone who knew him knew of his fun nature, compassion, and love for his family. Ralph was a lover of cars, trucks, boats, Coca Cola, antiques, solitaire, Irish hymns, animals and telling stories of the "good ol' days". The stories he would tell would keep you interested for hours. If you heard it before, he would tell you again. He always had his harmonica in his pocket, (along with every pen, screw, or magnet he could fit). A man as strong as an ox but a "gentle giant". He was a man who gave encouragement, cuddly hugs and made you feel good about yourself.

Proudly served in the U.S. Army. Korean War Veteran – Military Police 40 ^th Infantry Division.

Visiting hours will be held at the Douglass Funeral Home, 51 Worthen Rd. Lexington on Tuesday May 8, from 10am to12pm.  Interment to follow Westview Cemetery, Lexington.  Relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend.
