ROURKE, Renate E. Age 79, died peacefully on Friday, March 13, in her home at the Commons in Lincoln in Lincoln, MA. She was the widow of Joseph C. Rourke. Loving mother of Carina Burns and her husband Geoffrey of Palo Alto, CA and Dennis Rourke and his wife Deborah, of Lexington, MA, devoted grandmother to six grandchildren, Jacob, Markus, and Conor Burns, Joshua, Isabel and Oliver Rourke, and aunt to many nieces and nephews in Germany. Born in Stolp, Germany on May 10, 1935, she was the daughter of the late Georg and Emilie Feder. Renate grew up in Berlin during WWII and moved with her family to southern Germany after the war. She met her husband, a Boston native, in the early 1960's and moved to the Boston area. In the late 1960's she moved with her family to Saudi Arabia, where she lived until 1975. She then moved to Paris, France, where they lived until the early 1980's. She and her husband moved back to the U.S. to live in Carlisle, MA. Then they lived in Holland for two years, before returning to the U.S. Renate enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren, going for long walks at the Old North Bridge and the De Cordova museum, listening to opera and visiting Tanglewood every year. Visiting hours will be from 10 - 11 a.m. followed by a memorial service at 11 a.m. on Friday, March 20, 2015 at the Douglass Funeral Home, 51 Worthen Road, LEXINGTON, MA. Burial will follow immediately after the service in the family burial lot in Green Cemetery, Carlisle, MA.
