Averbuch, Richard L. of Lexington, April 25, 2023. Beloved husband of April A. Austin. Loving father of Benjamin Averbuch of Brooklyn, NY. Devoted brother of Gloria Averbuch and her husband Paul Friedman of Montclair, NJ. He is also survived by two nieces, Yael Averbuch West and Shira Averbuch.

Richard served as Executive Director of the Massachusetts Coalition for Serious Illness Care. He was Chief Marketing Officer at Mass. Gen. Hospital, Director of Marketing Communications at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center, Senior Director of Communications at Mass. Hospital Association, and Vice President at Mass. Business Roundtable. He earned his MPA from Harvard Kennedy School in 1985.

A native of San Francisco, Richard attended Lowell High School and Sonoma State University. His early career was in theater, as a performer and educator at the Round House Theatre in Bethesda, Maryland.

After retiring in 2019, he renewed his passion for the arts. He delighted in coaching older adults in acting scene study workshops and improvisation theater.

A celebration of Richard's life will be held Saturday, May 6, at the Lexington Historical Society's Depot building at 13 Depot Square in Lexington at 11 a.m. with visitation immediately prior to the service from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m.
