Obituary

Golay, Richard P.,62, of Lincoln died suddenly on October 14, 2013. Beloved husband of Lauren Sloat with whom he shared 12 years of marriage. Born April 27, 1951 in Newton, he was the son of the late Charles A. and Virginia (Crocker) Golay of Lexington. In addition to his wife, he is survived by two brothers, Charles L. Golay of Jamaica Plain and Ron Golay and his wife Jenny of Lincoln. Rick was a devoted uncle to his nephews, Andrew and Jeffrey Golay, and to Jeff's wife Devlin Selman and their daughter, Olive.
Rick had a great sense of humor and was very devoted to his family and friends, always having time to lend a helping hand. He was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed cycling, swimming, golf, hiking, and cross-country skiing. He took special pride in raising money for and riding in the Pan Mass Challenge eight times, including this past August. He was a passionate fan of all Boston's sport teams and followed them faithfully. Additionally, since his retirement from Raytheon, he enjoyed volunteering at the VA Hospital in Bedford.
A celebration of his life will be held Sunday, Oct. 20, at Douglass Funeral Home, 51 Worthen Road, Lexington, at 11 AM. Visiting hours will be on Saturday from 3 PM to 7 PM. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Rick's name to Pan Mass Challenge (pmc.org\rg0034) or Friends of Walden Pond (c/o Thoreau Society, 341 Virginia Road, Concord, MA, 01742).
