Richard Gurner, of Lexington, Aug. 13, 2022, was born in Cambridge MA in 1929. He graduated from Cambridge High and Latin in 1947; and was in US Air Force stationed in Japan during Korean War. His undergraduate and graduate degrees are from BU, and his Masters of Library Science from Simmons. He worked at WBCN, the concert network; Littleton HS, English Dept.; and Polaroid Corporation where he retired as library administrator. He enjoyed reading biographies of Romantic poets: Keats, Shelly, Wordsworth, Blake, and Byron.  That's how our cats got named Blake and Byron. He also enjoyed Thrillers and Political happenings. He enjoyed classical music with annual trips to Tanglewood, and was a devoted fan and collector of all things Frank Sinatra. Richard loved to drive.  We made 8 cross-country drives, and many north/south trips and drives through New England looking for moose. He supported his wife's alma mater, Mount Hoyoke College He amazed many by having an appropriate Shakespeare or Tennyson quote for any situation. Richard was an original Boston Braves fan who became a NY Yankees fan when he saw Joe DiMaggio hit a home run in Fenway. He was a big Montreal Canadiens supporter. He is survived by his children: Joel Adam Gurner of Harrisburg, PA Hilary Beth Steinberg of Harrisburg, and Sarah Ruth Gurner of Lee, NH. 6 Grandchildren and 10 Great Grandchildren. They will miss him greatly, as will his wife of 47 years Jean Vnenchak. Contributions can be made to:  Peaceful Valley Donkey Rescue, or Lahey Hospital & Medical Center.
