Richard J.
Marzilli
d. Dec 31, 2020
It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved husband, father, papa, brother, and friend. Richard J. Marzilli, 75, passed away surrounded by his family after a brief illness. Richard was born in Boston to Alfred and Jenny Marzilli. He and his wife Lee resided for the past 48 years in Lexington. Richard graduated from Newton North High School and Stonehill College where he earned a degree in mathematics. During his career, he worked as a statistician, a banker, and retired eight years ago from the State Auditor's Office. Richard was a brilliant musician who used his talent on the accordion and piano over the years in a band, at his church, and wherever he could spread joy. Richard was a kind and sensitive man who always put others before himself. His humor and ability to make others laugh and brighten a room were his most endearing qualities. He was a car enthusiast, loved nature stories, cooking shows, going to movies, and just being with his wife Lee. Richard was a member of Grace Chapel where he worshipped his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ for the last 42 years.
He is survived by his beloved wife Lee (Arakelian) of 52 years, and his three children, Richard, Jr., Alan, and Lora (Webster) and her husband Jason Webster. He is also survived by his five beautiful grandchildren, Taylor Marzilli, Graydon, Abigail, Mia, and Nathan Webster; and his siblings Sylvia Marzilli, Barbara Cardarelli, and Maryellen Erickson.
A private celebration of life service is planned to be held at Douglass Funeral Home in Lexington on Thursday, January 7 at 11:00 a.m. All are welcome to join the live-stream by connecting to the following link:
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Richard's honor to Camp Brookwoods and Deer Run in Alton Bay, NH (christiancamps.net) or Place of Promise in Lowell, MA (placeofpromise.org).
