RIGBY, Richard T. Electrical Engineer. A Mass of Christian Burial will be said at 10AM Friday in St. Brigid's Church, Lexington, for Richard T. Rigby who died February 19th at the age of 81. He was the husband of the late Mary Foley Rigby. Mr. Rigby, who was born in Fall River, previously resided in Commack, New York, before moving to Lexington, MA, in 1962. He was graduated from Durfee High School in Fall River and Northeastern University where he was elected to Eta Kappa Nu, a national engineering honor society. Upon graduation he was commissioned in the Navy and served aboard the USS Charles R Ware, (DD895) during the Korean War. Upon release from active duty he began his career as an electrical engineer with the Hazeltine Corporation in New York City. He was a member of the technical staff of The MITRE Corporation in Bedford until his retirement in 1993 and a registered professional engineer in Massachusetts. Mr. Rigby was active in local 4-H club affairs during the early 1970s and served as leader of a 4-H electrical club in Lexington for over five years. He was also active in the sport of figure skating for many years. He was a longtime member of The Skating Club of Boston and served as a governor and club officer for eight years. He was also an active member of The United States Figure Skating Association. He served on its competitions committee and as an accountant (scorekeeper) at many local, national and international competitions including the 1980 Olympic Winter Games at Lake Placid, New York. He leaves four children, Judith Bourque and her husband Daniel of Reading, Richard M. and his wife CherylAnn of Franklin, Susan and her husband Louis Genovese of Acton, David of Arlington, the late Thomas Rigby, seven grandchildren, and one great-grandchild. Family and friends are invited to visiting hours Thursday evening, Feb. 23rd, 6-8PM at Douglass Funeral Home, 51 Worthen Rd., LEXINGTON, MA.
