ADAM, ROBERT M. Of Charlton, formerly of Lexington MA and Wickford RI. Age 90. Husband of Elizabeth (Curtis) for 63 years. Father of Jeffrey and wife Joanne of Jamestown RI, Jennifer Gurnell and husband James of Old Saybrook CT and Robert and wife Stephanie of East Greenwich RI. Grandfather of Curtis and Christopher Adam, Gordon, Stewart and Emma Gurnell and Bradley and Grace Adam. Bob was predeceased by his parents Elizabeth and Archibald Adam and his brother John Adam. Bob loved his entire family and took great pride boasting about their each and every achievement.

Bob was a resident of Lexington for 50 years before moving to Overlook Life Care Community in Charlton. He founded Adam Painting Company Inc working successfully around the Boston Area for 35 years. He was Past President of the Newton Chapter of Painting and Decorator Contractors of America.

He was an active member of Simon W. Robinson Lodge, Scottish Rite and Aleppo Temple Shrine. He was recognized for his achievements as a selfless volunteer with the prestigious Joseph Warren Medal. He was Chapter Advisor and Chairman of the DeMolay board for many years mentoring young adults while being involved in many Rainbow and DeMolay activities. He was recognized for his efforts with the prestigious DeMolay Legion of Honor.

Bob was a former vestry member and Chairman of the Property Committee at the Church of Our Redeemer. He was an active member of the Lexington Minuteman and annually participated in the reenactment of the battle of Lexington. He was Past Commodore of Quannapowitt Yacht Club in Wakefield, MA where he introduced his children to racing sailboats and volunteered running races for many years. He spent 2 years in the US Army during the Korean conflict.

Bob and Betty traveled to many locations including Europe, Australia and New Zealand before spending 12 winters in Rarotonga in the Cook Islands. They spent 21 summers as well as holidays and weekends at their oceanfront home in Wickford RI where their grandchildren, family and friends were frequent visitors.

Visiting hours will be held at the Douglass Funeral Home, 51 Worthen Road, Lexington on Sunday, December 2nd from 3-7PM. Funeral services will be held at the Church of Our Redeemer, 7 Meriam Street Lexington on Monday, December 3rd, at 10AM. Private burial will be held at Lakeside Cemetery in Wakefield, MA. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to the Children's Dyslexia Center of Central Massachusetts.
