BARNARD, Robert Lee Sr. Born Jan. 25, 1934 in Somerville, MA, beloved husband of Marguerite Barnard (Semenza), son of the late Leslie N. Barnard and Arlene C. Barnard (Petersen), passed away peacefully with his family by his side Aug. 13, 2013. Upon graduating from Somerville High in 1951 he enlisted in the United States Marine Corps. After returning from duty he attended Boston University to pursue a journalism career. After completing his studies he joined the family business Barney's Auto Supply in Somerville, MA where he worked until his retirement in 1999. His proudest moments were the birth of his three grandchildren, Alexandra, Lucas, and Dylan Rose. He cherished every minute with them. Devoted father of Robert L. Barnard Jr. and his wife Aericka of Billerica, Scott Barnard and his partner Maria of Lexington, Gayle Johnson and her husband Craig of Rockport, and Kimberly Barnard of Belmont. Brother-in-law of Daniel and Connie Velardocchia and Angelo and Rose Semenza. Funeral from the Douglass Funeral Home, 51 Worthen Rd. Lexington Friday Aug. 16 at 10am followed by a Mass of Christian burial at St. Brigid Church, Lexington at 11am. Relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend.
