Robert Francis Goudreau, of Woburn, formerly of Lexington, died on August 2, 2025 after an extended illness.

Bob was born in 1932 in Rumford, Maine, the ninth child of George and Marion (Roy) Goudreau. He was predeceased by his parents; by his brothers Omer Goudreau, the Rev. George Goudreau, the Rev. Joseph Goudreau and Maurice Goudreau; by his sisters Gabrielle Goudreau, Jeanne Tozier, Pauline Goudreau, Priscilla Dupill and Claire Goudreau; by his first wife Joan Elizabeth (Koepcke) Goudreau; and by his second wife Elizabeth (Feeley McCarthy) Goudreau.

Surviving are his brother the Rev. Paul Goudreau, of Hudson, Florida; son Robert Goudreau, Jr. and his wife Renee of Cary, North Carolina; daughter Patricia Saunders and her husband Daniel of South Burlington, Vermont; son Paul Goudreau and his wife Kris Betres of Lexington; son Peter Goudreau and his wife Kathleen of Natick; granddaughter Elizabeth Goudreau and her fiancé Greg Arnold of Framingham; granddaughter Alex Kobrin and her husband Ben of Bozeman, Montana; grandson Joseph Saunders of South Burlington, Vermont; granddaughter Christina Freile and her husband Luis of Durham, North Carolina; grandson Paul Goudreau of Charlotte, North Carolina; grandson Luc Goudreau of Lexington; great-grandson Oliver Kobrin of Bozeman, Montana; and several nieces and nephews and their families. Bob is also survived by his cherished stepchildren and their families: Maureen Baker and her husband Leonard of Andover; Thomas McCarthy and his wife Rita of Dorchester; Nancy Carney and her husband Patrick of Plymouth; Bettianne Davis and her husband Howard of Boxborough; Paul McCarthy of Brunswick, Maine; Janice Phillips and her husband Michael of Hampton, New Hampshire; and 15 grandchildren and 25 great-grandchildren.

After serving in the U.S. Army, Bob moved to Boston where he received his degree from the Wentworth Institute. He had a successful multi-decade career as a tool engineer and model maker, the bulk of it spent at Hewlett-Packard's medical electronics division in Waltham and Andover. While living in Boston, Bob met a nurse named Joan. They were wed in 1962 and raised their family in Arlington and then Lexington. Bob sadly was widowed in 1983 but later found love again when he met Betty, with whom he enjoyed an equally happy marriage from 1990 until her death in 2019.

A visitation will take place at Douglass Funeral Home, 51 Worthen Road, Lexington, on Friday, August 8 from 4 pm to 7 pm. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at St. Brigid Catholic Church, 2001 Massachusetts Avenue, Lexington, on Saturday, August 9 at 10 am. Relatives and friends are invited to attend. In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory may be made to the American Cancer Society. Interment will be at Westview Cemetery in Lexington.
