Smith, Robert E. of Lexington, August 25, 2023. Predeceased by his beloved wife Mary (Chiasson) Smith. Loving father of Debora Gallagher and her husband Robert of Lexington, and Robert E. Smith, Jr. and his wife Jane of Woburn. Devoted brother of Ann Woodward and the late Lincoln Smith of Burlington. He is also survived by 7 grandchildren, Caitlin, Lindsay, Meghan, Kelley, Robert, Sarah, Erin, and by 14 great grandchildren, many nieces and nephews, and by his dear friend and companion, Gen O'Neill.

Bob, otherwise known as "Smitty" was a U.S. Marine Veteran. He was a small engine mechanic, devoted to his work, running his own business from his garage up until late last week.

Funeral from the Douglass Funeral Home, 51 Worthen Rd. Lexington Wednesday August 30 at 9am followed by a Mass of Christian burial at St. Brigid Church, Lexington at 10am. Visiting hours Tuesday from 4pm to 7pm. Relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend. Donations in his memory may be made to the American Heart Association or American Diabetes Association. Interment Westview Cemetery, Lexington.
