Robert Thompson age 68 of West Newton, MA. formerly of Lexington passed away unexpectedly December 23, 2021 at his home.  Beloved son of the late Robert G. Thompson and Dorothy E. Thompson (Robertson).
He was the loving father of Lisa A Burr and her husband Douglas Burr of North Reading, MA and Robert Thompson Jr. of Denver, CO.  He is also survived by his granddaughter Katelyn Burr.  Devoted brother of Janice Oberlander of Reading, MA; Donald Thompson and his wife Cecilia Thompson of Beverly, MA; Cynthia Richardson and her husband Robert Richardson of Gilmanton, NH.
Bob was a graduate of Lexington H.S. '71, Wentworth Institute and Northeastern University.
Bob's love of family and the ocean was fulfilled while spending endless summer days boating, fishing and swimming at the Thompson family's summer cottage in Gloucester, MA. Later in life he continued to find great joy in visiting the North Shore areas of Lanes Cove and Rockport and would always stop at his favorite restaurants along the coast for seafood. He also fulfilled his lifelong dream of traveling to Ireland and Scotland with his son Robby in 2007, visiting the birth place of his grandparents, Robert Thompson and Olive Graham in Ballintra, County Donegal.
A private service will be held at Westview Cemetery, Lexington.
