Bumbaca, Rocco D. of Lexington, formerly of Jamaica Plain, January 2, 2023. Beloved son of the late Rocco V. Bumbaca and Elizabeth (Simari) Bumbaca. Devoted brother of the late Virginia Albanese, Joseph Bumbaca and his surviving wife Carmela of Bedford, Carmela Kinsman, Anthony Bumbaca, and Teresa Smith. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
Rocco lived independently for some time in Bedford, MA before moving into a group home in Lexington where he leaves behind his loving JRI family. Rocco worked for the Veterans Administration Hospital for 33 years. He was well traveled having gone to Florida, Hawaii, Ireland and Italy and was well versed in travelling throughout Boston. Rocco's independence was recognized by the Department of Developmental Services for "Leading an Independent life". He was very social and his most favorite thing was to be surrounded by friends and family. His humor and gentle soul will be missed by all who knew and met him. Rocco's unconditional love was unparalleled and we are all better people for having known him. He will be sorely missed.
Funeral from the Douglass Funeral Home, 51 Worthen Rd. Lexington Saturday, January 7 th at 9am followed by a Mass of Christian burial at St. Brigid Church, Lexington at 10am. Visiting hours Friday from 4pm to 7pm. Relatives and friends are kindly invited. Donations in his memory may be made to the Special Olympics or to the Alzheimer's Association. Interment at St. Michael Cemetery in Roslindale.
