Sairani Ravi of Lexington, MA, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and sister peacefully entered her eternal rest at home on April 7, 2022, at the age of 75.

Born in Gudlavalleru, Andhra Pradesh, India on September 10, 1946, Sai was the third child of the late Satyanarayana Hanumara and the late Venkata Narsamamba Hanumara, the younger sister to Ammani Dasari and the late Lakshmi Rambabu Hanumara. Sai was a graduate of Andhra University where she received her Bachelors in the Sciences and in Education.

In addition to being a good student, like her father, Sai was a competitive sportswoman. For three consecutive years, she was the Andhra University all sports champion. Sai was also the captain and center player on the Andhra University ball badminton team that went on to win the India national championship in 1968. Not only was she a leader in the team sports she played but Sai was a prize-winning cyclist, and in addition to being ranked as the number one cyclist in the state of Andhra Pradesh, as a teenager she was a first prize winner in the National Cyclists Federation of India. Her enthusiasm for sports ensured her children inherited her competitive nature. Even though she had an extraordinary physical prowess as a young woman, she ultimately became diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis later in life, however this did not define her.

Sai began her professional career as a teacher in India before immigrating to the United States with her family in 1980. Once in the U.S., she followed in her father's footsteps and worked at a bank while being the backbone of her extended family.

Beyond her career, Sai was a pillar of the Indian American community, and she was a highly respected member of the local and national Telugu community in the United States and the community in Andhra Pradesh, India. Her dedication to the Indian classical arts and in preserving and continuing the Telugu culture in the next generation led to her not only being one of the original founders of the Telugu Association of Greater Boston (TAGB) in 1984 and the first president of the organization but also in ensuring her daughters were educated in both Kuchipudi and Bharatnatyam classical dance, veena and classical Carnatic music. Sai was also instrumental in the establishment and building of the Srilakshmi Hindu Temple in Ashland, MA.

She is survived by her husband Venkata Seshu, her daughters, Srilakshmi and Madhuri, her grandson Xander, her son Srikanth and his wife Krupa, her granddaughter Saanvi, and by her sister Ammani Dasari, her nephews Sridhar and Sriram, along with their families and children, Arjun, Sonali, and Tarini.

Sai will be missed by all her family and friends as she was extremely well loved and regarded by everyone who knew her. Her smile and generous nature will be remembered by all.

Religious Funeral Service is on Monday, April 11, 2022, at 10:00 AM ET at the Douglass Funeral Home in Lexington followed by the procession and cremation.
