Saramma Joseph, known as Ammini to her loved ones, beloved wife of Mr. Thekethil Geevarghese Joseph (George), caring mother of Pushpa, Sheena and Sujit, and their spouses Robin, Bobe and Priti, doting grandmother to Sarina, Rebecca, Ryan, Mariyam, Jaden and Samaira, entered her eternal home on July 12 ^th 2021 at the age of 78.

Born to Mathen and Sosamma Kochukunju at Kurattikadu, Mannar, in the Indian state of Kerala as the 5 ^th of six siblings, she was a strong willed, clever girl. She was very dedicated to her studies and after completing her high school, boarded a train from Kerala to Baroda in Gujarat, for a future she wanted to carve for herself on her own terms and merits. She secured a job at the office of Income Tax, Government of India, an organisation she served diligently and faithfully till she retired in October 2002. She was ever grateful to her Lord for her professional life. Her neighbours remember her going to her work daily looking gorgeous in the most beautiful cotton saris.

As a member of the Mar Gregorious Orthodox Syrian Christian Church in Baroda she attended faithfully in all fellowship meets and was ever ready to extend a helping hand in every little way that she could to the vicars who served there.  As a wife, she was devoted to her husband and both together led a true Christian life bringing up their kids with Christian values of love and care for everyone. Our house was never without guests, and all of them left after a nice warm meal.  As a mother, she was totally in charge of all the needs of her kids. Daddy was always busy with the activities of the church and the school associated with the church. Though a working mother, we kids never lacked anything. The contents of our tiffin box were never inferior to others, our uniform was washed and ironed every day, she was always in charge of what was being taught in school, we would squat on the kitchen floor to do our homework so that we could ask her our doubts. She would cross check the answers to our math problems without a pen and a paper. She would ask us questions from the lessons we learnt to ensure we got things right. Even subjects like Hindi which Sheena didn't enjoy she would read it for her to make sure she could remember and write something. She gave us freedom to choose what we did just like the freedom her parents gave her. Her faith in the Lord ensured that we all did our best and found our niche in this big world.

She spent the last part of her life living happily with her kids settled in Baroda, Boston and Bangalore enjoying every moment with the grandchildren. She loved to play board games and was invincible at a game of cards. Whatever free time she got she spent watching her favorite shows.  We will miss waking up to hear her singing hymns, reading from the Bible and saying her prayers.  She lived her life being grateful to the Lord for all her life experiences and is now at rest on that beautiful shore.

The viewing and funeral services will be held on Saturday, July 17th at the Carmel Mar Thoma Church, 467 River Rd. Hudson Massachusetts from 9am till Noon. For friends unable to attend, you may join a livestream for the service by connecting to the following link:
