Hewitt, Stanley G. 85, of Salem N.H. , formerly of Lexington, Massachusetts died, June 11, 2013 of cancer. Stanley was born on April 26, 1928 in Cambridge, Ma to Frank and Susan (Verge) Hewitt.
Stanley was a veteran of the U.S. Army and honorably served his country during the Korean War, he was stationed in Germany from 1950 to 1952. During leave, he married the love of his life Dorothy Viola Spence at Grace Methodist Church, Cambridge on February 18, 1951. They were happily married for 62 years.
While working and raising a young family, Stanley completed his Engineering degree from Northeastern University in Boston.
He worked for 45 years for United Shoe Machinery as a Plant Engineer.
He was the loving father of two sons and one daughter, Steve (Michelle) Hewitt of Derry, N.H., Brian (Valerie) Hewitt of Braintree, MA. and Susan (Paul) Hewitt-Williamson of Loveland, Colorado.
He was the beloved grandfather of Brian Michael Hewitt of Park City UT, Kaley Hewitt of Braintree, Ma, Sam and Ben Williamson both of Loveland, CO, Sean Fulton and Russell York, both of Derry N.H. Grampy was adored by his grandchildren and the members of the Sabina and Crossen families.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by older brother Frank Hewitt, Richard Hewitt and Robert Hewitt.
Surviving are Stanley's sisters Marilyn (Jack) Scott; Shirley (Carl) Graham .Sisters-in-law, Barbara (Ron) Townshend., and Jean Hewitt, plus numerous nieces and nephews.
Visiting hours will be held at the Douglass Funeral Home, 51 Worthen Rd. Lexington Friday June 14 from 5pm to 8pm and a funeral service will be celebrated Saturday June 15th at 10am with Reverend Kathleen Towns presiding. Donations in his memory may be made to Dana Farber Cancer Institute, 450 Brookline Ave. Boston, MA 02215. Interment Westview Cemetery, Lexington.
