DOSTOU, Steven J. Passed away peacefully with his family by his side at his home in Belmont, MA on October 24, 2012. He was born on May 20, 1921 in Providence, RI to James and Evridiki (Papadopoulos) Dostoglous. Steven was the beloved husband of Mildred (Samos) Dostou for over 60 years. He entered the U.S. Army in 1942 and served in London and Belgium for three years as a Staff Sergeant in the B Company 942d Engineers AVN Topographic Battalion. After returning from the war, Steven received his BA in Accounting from Bryant College in 1948 and then returned to Massachusetts to work at the family business, New England Coffee Company as the Finacial Officer. Over the course of his lengthy and distinguished career at New England Coffee Co., Steven became an owner and partner in the company and served as both the Treasurer and later as President. Steven was a founder of the St. Nicholas Greek Orthodox Church in Lexington, MA where he served as Treasurer for many years. He was also a founder and treasurer of the Lexington Minuteman chapter of the Ahepa. Throughout his life, his greatest joys were golfing, gardening, and spending time with his beloved family and friends at his residences in Massachusetts and Florida. He was an adoring husband, father, and grandfather who will be remembered most for his gentle nature, kindness and generosity, and his spirit will live on in those he loved. Steven is survived by his wife Mildred, son Jamie, daughter Linda and her husband John, granddaughters Alexis and Ashley, and was the dear brother of Mary Kanelos and Louie Dostou. A funeral service will be held Saturday October 27 at St. Nicholas Greek Orthodox Church, Lexington at 11am. Relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend. Visiting hours at the Douglass Funeral Home, 51 Worthen Rd., LEXINGTON, Friday from 4pm to 8pm.
