WATSON, Sue (Snyder) 90, of Lexington and Brewster, MA, died peacefully in her sleep on November 23, 2016, at Brookhaven in Lexington. Born July 25, 1926, in Kansas City, MO, she earned her Bachelors degree from Smith College, (Class of 1948). After many years of volunteering in the field of mental health, Sue returned to school in the early 1960's and earned a Masters degree in Social Work from New York University. Into her mid-70's, Sue worked as a psychiatric social worker, both in private practice and at Emerson Hospital in Concord, MA. Throughout her career, Sue helped countless individuals, many of whom she remained close to long after their professional relationship had ended. Sue devoted her life to helping others, and she did all she could to make the world a better place in both big and small ways. She marched for civil rights and against the Vietnam War, worked tirelessly to elect progressive candidates to public office, and always put the needs of the least fortunate first. Sue loved the ocean, the opera, sunsets, the symphony, travel, movies, good food, museums, and the theater. Her taste in music ranged from classical to jazz, and everyone who knew her has a memory of her singing and dancing to "Mack the Knife" -- not even a broken leg could keep her off the dance floor! Sue had an immense love for life, and a wonderful sense of humor; summer reunions of family and friends on Cape Cod were full of laughter and good times. Despite a life touched by many losses, Sue was a source of strength and comfort to those around her; people turned to her for advice and guidance, and she made the problems and needs of others her own. Sue was a loving and giving person, and she will be deeply missed by all whose lives she touched during her own long and meaningful life. Sue is survived by her children, Georgette Silva and her wife Camilla Lindan of Mill Valley, California; Richard Silva and his wife Jennifer of Cleveland, Ohio; Bill Silva and his wife Anna Crawford of West Hartford, Connecticut; and her four cherished grandchildren, Pia Crawford-Silva, Charlie Crawford-Silva, Lily Silva, and Sam Silva, who knew her as "Maga." Sue also leaves behind the Love, Watson, and Gentile families, as well as other family members and friends too numerous to name, all of whom she loved and who loved her. Sue was predeceased by her sister Allene Love, her husband John Watson, her daughter AnNett Silva, and her granddaughter Sara Silva. A memorial service is planned for a later date.
