Tianmin
Zhao
d. Jul 11, 2026
Tianmin Zhao passed away peacefully on July 11, 2026, at the age of 88, at Lahey Hospital & Medical Center.
Born on March 2, 1938, in Wuhan, China, Tianmin was the eldest son of Heling Zhao and Shude Li. He later moved to Shanghai, where he spent his childhood and early adult years. After graduating, he joined the First Automobile Works (FAW) in Changchun, Jilin Province, as an engineer in the Research and Development Division, where he dedicated more than 30 years of service until his retirement. He was respected as a diligent, trustworthy, and innovative engineer.
After lovingly caring for his wife, Shufang Zhang, throughout her illness until her passing, Tianmin immigrated to the United States ten years ago. He embraced an independent and active life, finding great joy in tending a flourishing backyard garden, walking along the Minuteman Bikeway on sunny days, and reading and discussing current events with his son and relatives in China.
Those who knew Tianmin will remember his sharp mind, which remained with him until the very end, his lifelong intellectual curiosity, and his strong sense of independence. Above all, he taught those around him to choose their words carefully so as not to cause regret and to always treat others with patience and understanding. These lessons will continue to guide and inspire his family for years to come.
A private ceremony for family members and close friends will be held at 4:00 p.m. on July 15, 2026.
He will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by his son, daughter-in-law, and three grandchildren, and by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
