Stakutis, Vincent J., died May 1, 2016 in Cambridge, MA, the husband of late Helen L. (Zaleski) Stakutis. He was born on June 20, 1920, the son of the late Vincenti Stakutis and Constance Cesnelvich. He was the devoted father of Ann Liotta of Andover, Vincent Stakutis Jr. of Bangor, ME, Wanda Valiton of Belize, Christopher J. Stakutis of Concord, the late Michael John and loving grandfather of eight grandchildren. He was also the brother of the late Sister M. Celestine of Sister of Jesus Crucified, the late Alphonse Stakutis of Milton and the late Rita Venis. Vinnie was educated in Boston schools and graduated from Boston College and then Brown University with a Ph.D in Physics. He was a veteran of the WWII 8th AF and R.I. Air National Guard. He worked as a researcher of atmospheric physicist at the AF Cambridge Research Laboratories in Bedford and as supervisor of Atmospheric radiation propagation studies until 1960 contributing to the Armed Forces vision programs using high altitude balloons, aircraft and space vehicles. He extended these studies with the Mitre Corp to atmospheric transmissions of the spectrum of imaging radiations to AF intelligence reconnaissance and surveillance systems predicated on a definition of global and nuclear produced environmental conditions with a brief digression into the environment of coal mines of the US. He had been a member of the Who's Who of Men of Science, the American Societies of Acoustics, Geophysics and Meteorology, a fellow of the Am. Assoc. of Advancement in Science and Sigma Xi. Funeral From the Douglass Funeral Home, 51 Worthen Rd. Lexington Wednesday May 4 at 9am followed by a Mass of Christian burial at St. Brigid Church, Lexington at 10am.
