Born in South Boston and raised in the Neponset section of Dorchester, she was the beloved daughter of the late Edward J. Davis and Elizabeth "Lily" Donahue.
She was predeceased by her loving husband, Richard W. McGann; her brother, Rev. Edward J. Davis; her sister, Kathleen Dore, and her dear longtime friend John Dailey.

Virginia attended St. Ann Grammar School and St. Gregory High School before continuing her education in business studies. She began her career working at Sheridan's Department Store in Quincy and later worked as a telephone operator for New England Telephone & Telegraph until her marriage in 1948. She then devoted herself fully to raising her family and creating a warm and loving home.
Virginia was a devoted Catholic who always had the rosary in her hands and was an active member of Sacred Heart Parish in Lexington, where she participated in the Women's Club, parish events, and countless volunteer activities. She was a constant and loving presence in her children's lives, always there to support and guide them.
Virginia found joy in life's simple pleasures: crossword puzzles, daily walks, time at the seashore, and cheering on her beloved Boston sports teams. She especially loved music, from Irish melodies to the songs of Tom Jones. Known for her warmth and welcoming spirit, her smile and kindness left a lasting impression on all who knew her.
