William J. Fitzgerald of Lexington, formerly of Somerville, September 13, 2025, age 100 years. Beloved husband of the late Julia A. Fitzgerald (Harrington). Father of William J. Fitzgerald, Jr. and his wife Mary of Plymouth, Julie A. Fitzgerald of Marblehead, and Thomas P. Fitzgerald of Lexington. Brother of the late Madeline Redmond, John Donohue, and Catherine Ahearn. He is also survived by 2 grandchildren: William J. Fitzgerald III and his wife Alissa of Brunswick, GA, and Kathleen M. Fitzgerald of South Boston.

Bill was a retired Chief of the Somerville, MA Fire Department with 40 years of service; member of the National Fire Chiefs Association; Somerville Fire Local 1240; Dilboy Post VFW 529, World War II U.S. Veteran - Coast Guard/Pacific Theater.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Friday September 19th at St. Raphael Church, 512 High St. Medford at 11am. Visitation at the Douglass Funeral Home, 51 Worthen Rd. Lexington immediately prior to the Mass from 9am to 10:30am. Relatives and friends are kindly invited. Donations in his memory may be made to Compassionate Care Hospice, 800 West Cummings Park Suite 3100, Woburn, MA 01801. Interment at Oak Grove Cemetery, Medford.
