Mello, William J. Jr., of Kingston, formerly of Bedford and Lexington, passed away peacefully, surrounded by his family on February 24, 2023. Beloved husband of the late Phyllis (Kowalski) DiPalma. He was predeceased by his beloved first wife, Joan (Piccus) Mello. Loving father of Jenifer Mello Shaw and Richard of Waxhaw, NC, William Mello and his wife Joanne of Wesley Oaks, NC, and Matthew Mello and his wife Lauren of Kingston. Devoted brother of the late Alice Saudade and Albert Mello. He is also survived by 8 grandchildren, Billy, Gina, Ryan, Anthony, Julie, Maria, Antonia and Matthew, by 5 great grandchildren, Scarlette, Liam, Daxton, Stella, and Calliana, and by many nieces and nephews. Bill graduated Revere High School in 1951, served in the U.S. Air Force in Korea, and was a graduate of Catholic University, class of 1959. Bill was an Architect, whose many types of works included hospitals and malls, and was still designing and teaching into his 80's. He was also an accomplished artist and spent much time volunteering as a coach and on town committees. Most of all he loved spending time with family and friends. Funeral from the Douglass Funeral Home, 51 Worthen Rd. Lexington Saturday March 4 th at 9:30 AM followed by a Mass of Christian burial at Sacred Heart Church, 311 River St. in Waltham at 10:30 AM. Visiting hours at the funeral home on Friday from 4pm to 7pm. Donations in his memory may be made to the Lions Club International Foundation. Interment at Shawsheen Cemetery in Bedford.
