**In Loving Memory of Mr. Xinghua Zhu**
Newton, MA – January 3, 2025
Mr. Xinghua Zhu was born on November 16, 1933, in Su County, Anhui Province, into a humble peasant family. From an early age, he undertook the responsibility of supporting his family, instilling in him a tireless work ethic that would shape his remarkable life. In 1954, he was admitted to the Department of Chinese at Fudan University, where he graduated in 1958. He dedicated his career to the Anhui publishing system, rising from a young journalist and editor to a respected leader in the field.
In February 1964, Mr. Zhu married Ms. Meifen Xiong, and together they built a loving home, raising a daughter and a son.
Mr. Zhu's life was a testament to perseverance, intellectual curiosity, and an enduring love for life. Throughout his career, he navigated both personal and historical challenges with grace, always embracing change and progress. Upon retiring, he moved to the United States to reunite with family. Despite the initial unfamiliarity of his new surroundings, he approached this chapter with the same enthusiasm and openness, making many dear friends along the way, thanks to his warm and generous spirit.
To his family, Mr. Zhu was a steadfast presence—a sheltering tree offering strength and comfort. His unwavering love for his wife was evident in their 61 years of shared joys and trials. His devotion to his children and grandchildren was reflected in his constant encouragement, guidance, and support during their most critical life moments. He instilled in them the values of ambition, perseverance, and the importance of leading a vibrant life.
Mr. Zhu leaves behind a legacy of love, wisdom, and cherished memories. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 61 years, Ms. Meifen Xiong; his loving daughter, Lucy Su, and her husband, Kevin Su of Boston, MA; his devoted son, Erik Zhu, and his wife, Ruby Lin of Fremont, CA. He also leaves behind two treasured granddaughters, Sophia and Alicia.
